Some great performances at the Zones. Pearl McCracken missed out on first place in the Long Jump by 1cm! Her jump of 4.15m certainly impressed and she will be determined to go further at the Interzones.
Moale Powell finish 3rd in the shot put and Athena Qian also finished 3rd in the 100m so they too will have the chance to compete against Aucklands best.
Congratulations!

Blue Light Year 7 Police Challenge
A fun day had by all. We watched a solar eclipse, saw the police dogs in action, chatted with the Armed Offenders Squad, played basketball and represented the school well in the challenge, placing eighth.

Parnell Touch Rugby Teams
This year we entered a mix of years 5 and 6 into the Bay Suburbs Touch tournament at Madills Farm.
Both the boys and girls teams performed well, with the girls undefeated in pool play. They were unfortunate to lose the final 1 - 0 to a Churchill Park team that did not concede a point all tournament.
Congratulations for placing 2nd!
The year 7/8 entered a mixed team of boys and girls finishing 3rd in their pool and 5th overall.
Once again thanks to the parents and teacher aides who were able to assist on the day.

Weet-Bix Tryathlon
Well done to those students who braved the elements (at 8am on the last day of school holidays) to represent Parnell at the Weet-Bix World Champ TRY-Athlon. All the Parnell students gave it their best and it was an enjoyable day with parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and the odd Airedale!
Thanks to Fiona Oliver who ensured our registrations were in on time, while Mr Paine was with the ski-team. This ensured we were entered into the draw for $500.00 worth of sporting equipment, which to everyone's delight - we won!

Bay Suburbs Basketball
Amazingly, both our Boys and Girls Year 5/6 matched the 7/8 by coming 3rd in their respective Zone tournaments at St Kents!
That's all four teams winning their 3rd and 4th play-off matches in a very competitive environment. Excellent committment at the end of a long day. Congratulations!

Stella Nightengale (3rd), Ro'anis Lamond (4th) and Pearl McCraken (6th) will all go on to represent Parnell at the Auckland Interzones on the 20th September.
Well done and good luck!
