Water Safety Programme starts Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th- please be organised

Just another reminder that our Annual Water Safety Programme at Parnell Baths starts next week on Monday and Tuesday.

You will need;
NAMED -
togs
towel
water bottle (thirsty work walking down to Parnell Baths)
cap and goggle (optional)

Please encourage your children to participate in this programme.  We need to work as a community to educate our children to be safe IN, ON and AROUND water.

If you have a life jacket please send it to school with your child and they will use it in their session.

Rotary Top Schools Fun day- are you interested and a Year 3-6 student?

Sunday 28th February 


A day of fun competition between Primary Schools in the
Auckland East area. Now in it’s 25th year.

What happens
Teams of children have
fun competing in
events such as:
Wobbly Wheels,
Slippery Slide,
Sponge Fun, Gumboot
Throw,
Ski Run, Mine Field,
Newspaper Delivery and
Husky Run.

The children have a sensational day out with excellent opportunities to
have great fun in a team

The day is structured so that the children are competing with their
peers. Division 1 is Years 3 & 4 and Division 2 is Years 5 & 6. Each
school can enter teams of 10 children into each division. Every child
is given a certificate commemorating their attendance.

Week 1 Sports Update

Thank you to all the students who have registered to participate in the Weetbix TRYathlon on 21st February at St Heliers.   Registrations have closed as the St Heliers event has been SOLD OUT.

 Numbers have reached full capacity and due to health and safety reason they will no longer be taking any registrations.
 However, they do recommend the Hibiscus Coast event on the 3rd of April as an alternative event or you can put your name down on the wait                                                                  list for St Heliers.


I will hold a meeting leading up to the TRY to meet all the PDS students who are the lucky ones.  In the mean time keep the training up.

 Please fill in the Water Safety newsletter that is coming home tonight and return to school so your childs classroom teacher can co-ordinate the parent support team (3-4 parents per class) and organise ability groups.

If you have Image result for life jacket or  Image result for floatable recycled devices please can you label the life jacket and your child can use it for the "dry" and "wet" activities.  All float-able devices ie-plastic bottles, chilly bin lids, old balls etc can be used for the classroom "wet" activities at Parnell Baths.


Cricket Blitz

Competition starts week 3 Thursday 18th of February and goes for 6 weeks with games being played from 4.00 - 5.30pm and most of them locally at Auckland Domain.  New tshirts will arrive for the team and draw will be out next week.  I will keep you posted.

Football Kidz training session at PDS Friday 4th March 


On Friday 4th March the Year 1-8 students at PDS will get the opportunity to participate in football skills sessions with 3 coaches at school.  Each class will have a 30 minute football taster of skills and mini games.

PDS SuperDads 7-Aside Football team


Sadesh Natali (Maalika and Rahul's dad) has entered a PDS dads team into a 7-Aside football league. Their first subfootball game this Monday 25th at the cage in St Peters, Mountain Road. Kickoff is at 630pm. All the best and have fun and if you are strolling by St Peters mini cage pop in a support our team!!!!

PDS-Water Safety Awareness Week 1-Week 4

In the beginning of Term One, Year 1 to Year 6 students will participate in water safety sessions in and around.  Each class will have 2 sessions at the local Parnell Baths with experienced water safety educators.  Please support the teaching staff by checking which days your child/children are having "wet" lessons and providing them with their required swimming gear.  There will be more details to follow.

Please be water safe and always watch your children near and around water.
