North Island Ski Champs

Another great year for Parnell District School at The North Island Primary School Ski Champs!

Nic Morris improved on his Bronze last year to win a Silver Medal in the Senior Boys. A fantastic effort. Tane Talton-Kraus was a very impressive 27th on this course.

Tama Morris earned an excellent 6th and Oliver Dennehy an amazing 25th in the Junior boys, with Alexander Parr (a Year 4) placing 49th and Denash Haran 92nd in his first outing.

Our Junior Girls also represented well with Lilli Davies recording the 11th fastest time and Darcey Pead-Kingdon, Zoe Parr (a Year 2) and Rachel Willison placing 44th, 47th and 48th respectively.

We were in an excellent position going into the dual slalom but unfortunately these races were abandoned due to poor conditions.

This meant that the two Parnell teams placed 5th and 9th overall, out of over 90 Primary Schools in competition! A wonderful effort from all concerned.

All the students in Year 4 and above have earned selection to represent Parnell District School at the Bay Suburbs and Eastern Zone Cross Country meets. Well done.

The next 6 runners also make the teams, which are posted alongside details on the Cross Country tab.

A result at the Eastern Zone Meet could see some of our runners go on to the Interzones! Good luck.

School Fun Run

Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, we have had to postpone our Fun Run. The weather looks pretty unsettled for the remainder of this week but if we catch a break we will go ahead. We may need to look at the following week while we have the Ski Team away, as we need results by 1st September to select the Bay Suburbs and Eastern Zone Cross Country teams.

This obviously affects those parents that have volunteered to assist today. We will endeavour to give as much warning as possible about when the event will take place and any parents that are still able, or become available to assist, will be most welcome.

Students are free to continue fund raising if they so desire as the cut off date for return of sponsorship forms remains a week after the event. There are still plenty of forms available from the front office. Once we have collect all the forms it will be 10 to 14 days before the students receive their chosen prize.
