Congratulations
to our most successful Parnell Ski Team yet! In a dramatic week that saw 20cm
of fresh snow fall before, (and during), the first days racing, we had Nick
Morris earn a Bronze Medal in the Giant Slalom, skiing with a broken wrist!
Tama Morris and Lilli Davies also finished the GS in the top 8 for their
respective divisions and Tane Tarlton-Kraus (22nd), Darcey
Pead-Kingdon (26th), Bella Barlow (34th), and Jamie
McConnell (44th) all represented the school brilliantly. Oliver
Dennehy (97th) and Tyler Doherty (124th) also got runs
in, but Rachel Willison, Alexander Parr and Zac Saunders were unfortunate to
miss out. Our final Team result of 2nd equal on points saw us finish
just behind St Kents and Kristin but ahead of Kings, St Cuthberts and
Southwell. A phenomenal result! The entire team were fantastic ambassadors of
the school in our shared accommodation with Victoria Ave, Meadowbank and Pt
Chev Primaries. Very special thanks to Richard Swan for organising our stay on
the mountain and to John Doherty, Tracey Gieck, Di Craig, Fiona Oliver, Angus,
Anna and Fiona Willison, Steve and Heather Davies, Simon Parr and John Dennehy
for their time and commitment to the team. We couldn’t have done it without
these parents and we all look forward to bringing home more medals next year!
