Auckland Inter Zone Cross Country

Congratulations to Stella Nightingale and Wynton Richards, 2 of our intermediates who represented the Eastern Zone at the Inter Zone Cross Country Champs. On another wet and windy day, they were 12th and 13th respectively in their races, against the best of the best. A great effort in PDS colours and we are very proud.

Zone Cross Country Results

Great results from the Bay and Eastern Zone Cross Country Meets, held at Churchill Park on Thursday, in atrocious weather!

Cole Osbourne won the Year 4 boys race with Archie Nightingale 9th, Alex Beuvink 10th and Oscar Richards 13th. This placed the team 2nd overall, a fantastic result and Parnell's best.

In the Year 4 girls Mia Reid ran 3rd, finishing the race with only one shoe, indicative of the conditions! Eva Barry was our next best coming in 24th.

Penelope Salmon was the 2nd fastest of all schools' Year 5 girls with Cal Macredie 18th and Katie Ryan 19th. This put the team 3rd overall and was another excellent combined effort. The best of the Year 5 boys was Liam Quinn who came in 24th.

In Year 6 boys we had Finn McCracken come in 4th and Ky Codd 9th. The girls race saw Alayna Kamuhemu 8th and Rachael Willison 13th.

Intermediates get the opportunity to represent Parnell's Eastern Zone at the Inter Zones if they are in the top 8. A standout performance here was Stella Nightingale, who also lost a shoe in the mud, but managed to battle her way to 3rd place. Good luck with the Zones Stella, tighten those shoes! Bianca Nagaiya ran 12th in this race and the team was 3rd overall. Well done.

In the boys, amid very tough competition from the likes of Kings, St Kents and Sacred Heart, Wynton Richards ran a commendable 7th and also gets to represent the Zone at the Inter Zones.

The Year 7's found it tough this year with some of our best runners absent but Sophia Morcom ran hard for her 16th and Freddy Hatton was impressive with his 19th.

It was great to see so many parents out supporting our teams in the rain and also to catch up with some ex Parnell students who now represent their new schools. Congratulations all round!
